Raiding 101 Gubbins

Raiders 101

Enjoy it - it's a game!

  • Loot shouldn't be your god - if it is you may be disappointed (it is nice though!) What is the point of raiding then? Well I think it is achieving a shared aim and getting the bosses down overcoming so much - the trash, the adds, falling off ledges, the cat jumping on your keyboard, standing in the goo and lets not forget the lag.
  • Communication - this is everything in the raid environment for me which is why I don't like PuG's. Through different forms we will be effective and enjoy ourselves - for raids we need to use Vent and a headset - if you are too shy to use a mic that is fine at least you can hear what others are saying so know to nuke or not etc
  • Development - this doesn't mean going from a gear score of 4.5k to 5k etc it means actually learning from the highs and the lows and developing yourself in the game and in the real world. We will have to create an atmosphere of reflection. Look back on things and go YES! or look back on things and go ok that didn't quite go right what went wrong? what can we do differently next time? and so on...
  • Patience –  There will be issues and you will need patience. We will wipe - see development above!!
  • Prep –  it's all in the prep I can hear my old manager saying to me and she was right. Have all your gear ready for raiding as set out in the guild rules and ask if you aren't sure we will help with gemming, chants etc amongst ourselves
  • Teamwork – There is no I in team and we all have to work together. In a Raid we all have our part to play.
  • Know your role and also if you understand the roles of other characters I think that is a huge bonus as you are more likely to understand their needs and the problems that they are having to. Most important though is to understand your class and if you don't ask for help we are approachable in the guild.
